Steve Asher has the can do mentality.   We worked with Steve for 6 months on a $200,000 dollar remodel.  Any changes or obstacles were dealt with quickly and efficiently.  Steve Asher’s crew were amazing in their knowledge and skills. After our remodel was complete any problems or needs Asher Home’s team was there to help us and get things done. We wouldn’t recommend anyone else to get a construction job done.  Two years after our job was complete we still thank Steve and his crew for an awesome remodel.

My experience with Asher Homes building my house was exceptionally gratifying.Steve Asher is highly experienced in home building and very knowledgeable in building with energy efficiency and green building choices in his work. We designed our own home and with engineering studies and Steve’s extensive building knowledge we were able to translate the design ideas into the finished space, Steve was easy to work with as the project progressed and completed the work in a timely manner.

When my wife and I moved to Ashland in 2010 we sought a builder who could help us construct an energy efficient passive / active solar home. We were lucky enough to be directed to Steve Asher. At the time of our first meeting with Steve we were still working with another local builder, but were offered some sage advice on regional protocols and standards. When that other builder produced plans and costs that exceeded our budget and threatened to compromise our ability to get a loan, and then declined to negotiate costs, we amicably severed our relation with him and began working with Steve.

We are tremendously glad that we did.

Throughout the design and construction of our home through 2011-2012 Steve was available to offer the benefit of his great experience and wisdom. On countless occasions during the construction, we found Steve was able to actualize ideas that we had and bring them to fruition under budget. On numerous other occasions, Steve was able to come up with subtle ideas that immeasurably enhanced the home and which also kept it within our budget. We were delighted to discover that so effectively did Steve manage to keep construction within budget that we were able to install our preferred lighting (LEDs) throughout, and, furthermore, incorporate granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The final result was a home that exceeded our expectations, and achieved Energy Star Certification and an Earth Advantage Platinum rating for its overall energy efficiency. After three years living in our home, we are as happy now as when we first moved in.

We would recommend Steve Asher and Asher Homes to anyone seeking a green energy efficient home. Were we to do it again, we’d be delighted to engage Steve to help us. I met Steve Asher 6 years ago when I began looking for a a very specific homesite in Ashland to accommodate our one level, close to downtown needs. The realtors and I looked for more than 2 years at prospective homes and lots with Steve volunteering on many occasions to meet us at a prospective property to give his opinion on either remodeling or building on the site. Two years later, when we finally found the perfect location, Steve was there to advise us on its suitability and suggesting building plan ideas according to our needs.
Over the course of building our new home, Steve proved to be not only a very experienced builder, but a good designer in his own right. Many a time he came up with solid and creative solutions to some of the trickier problems which surfaced. His background in engineering proved essential in solving our creekside drainage issues and satisfying the city in their requirements. He represented us in a number of evening meetings required for passage of our building plans.
Steve is a fine and economical builder who keeps a close eye on the owner’s budget. His monthly statements include itemized expenses which are cumulatively compared to the final estimated building costs. This is crucial information in the owners’ planning of how to allocate their funds.
Steve is extremely knowledgeable in the area of green building practices and standards, building Earth Advantage homes and regularly volunteering his time to teach others and assist them in becoming credentialed in this area.
He is a joy to work with—always pleasant and responsive to an owners’ questions or needs. His crews, with whom he’s worked for many years, are efficient, cheerful and tidy. I highly recommend him to anyone building or remodeling in the Rogue Valley.
